Who Are We?

Recal Travel is an adventure travel company that aims to help busy people recalibrate their life and fight off the effects of burnout. We do this through “Mindful Adventure Travel”, a travel style that combines mindfulness with adventure travel. Each of our trips is designed to give you the most out of your mindfulness as well as outdoor adventures. Our knowledgeable mindfulness coaches will be with you each step of the way to give ample guidance.

Our trips are a great way to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and return once again to the calm and naturally quiet places on the planet. We believe that immersion in nature and naturally quiet places are the best ways to fight off the effects of burnout.

The “quiet” partnership

With this goal in mind, we teamed up with Quiet Parks International to venture into some of the world’s quietest regions. Quiet Parks International or QPI, is the world’s first and only international organization to date that is committed to finding and preserving these naturally quiet places. The organization believes that quiet is an important aspect of life on this planet and must therefore be preserved.

The sound of nature without human-made noise pollution is quickly becoming hard to find. Humanity’s rapid expansion and the drive to live in urban areas have deprived us of this pleasure. Small pockets of nature without any human-made noise are rapidly decreasing in number. That is something QPI aims to preserve.

The quest to bring back the natural quiet experience

For thousands of years, humanity has enjoyed the sound of nature around them. Only at the dawn of modernization did we plunge into the cacophony of city life. We became surrounded by unnatural noise which has made us unable to enjoy the serenity of nature in her most pure form. And even if we did find time to visit these quiet places, our minds are often abuzz with “noise” that distracts us from the moment.

This is what inspired us to create our Quiet Parks Series of trips. For our first trips, we picked some of the quietest places in the world: Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCA) and Glacier National Park. These sites are ‘upcoming’ (to be officially named) naturally Wilderness Quiet Parks by QPI. Our mindfulness-certified coaches and guides are also present to help you process the internal noise of the mind.

This is done through guided meditations, breathwork, journaling, and forest bathing among other things. This gives you a chance to experience the external quiet of nature and all her glory as well as the internal quiet of the mind – a holistic experience designed to get the most out of your mindfulness adventure trip.

Recal and Quiet Tourism

With this partnership, we aim to promote quiet tourism in these naturally quiet places. This brings focus not only to helping the local communities keep the locale free from noise pollution, but also to encourage quiet tourism, a sustainable form of economic development, in the area.

Boundary Waters Canoe Area, Minnesota

The Boundary Waters and Canoe Area is a pristine wilderness that is off-limits to aircraft and other motor vehicles. This makes it one of the most naturally quiet places in the country. There are a total of three trips in June. The trip consists of canoeing and camping through the wilderness. In between these, there are other activities in store such as forest bathing, hiking, and guided breathwork.

June 9-13, 14-18, 19-25 – Quiet Park Series: Canoe Camping in the Boundary Waters, MN
Prices are $1,950 for a 4-day trip, $2,650 for the 6-day option

Glacier National Park, Montana

This 5-day trip will let you enjoy both the inner and outer quiet that Glacier National Park offers. Our partner ROAM Beyond will host you in their Columbia Falls outdoor lodging. Over the course of the trip, attendees are treated to activities that showcase the beauty of Glacier National Park.

There will be e-bike rides through the Going-to-the-sun road, silent hiking to one of the most secluded parts, and spending one night camping under the stars. These activities let you experience the tranquility and serenity of the national park. Attendees are also treated to activities like guided meditation and breathwork to experience the inner quiet and tranquility of mindfulness practice.

June 2-6 – Quiet Park Series: Glamping, E-biking, and Forest Bathing in Glacier, MT
Prices range from $2,750 to $3,450 depending on accommodation selection.

Final words

One of the best things you can do for yourself is to escape from the noise not just outside but also from within. A nice and quiet trip away from civilization paired with the right mindfulness practices can do wonders for your mental health.
